New Dedicated Server... On Steroids

Going with Awknet, a custom dedicated server package.

This is what they are giving me: For a $200 setup fee and a recurring monthly fee of $199, I get:

• Pentium 4 D 2.8 (dual core)
• Ram: 2GB
• HD: 500GB
• cpanel/whm
• ddos protected
• Bandwidth: 100Mbps connection upgradeable if required in dedicated 5mbps increments ($50-$60)
• Operating System: FreeBSD 6.1
• 64 free IPs
• Remote Reboot Option
• Emergency pager for on-call NOC staff

Setup time, I am told, is 2 - 4 days (ouch!), as they have no hardware that fits my requirements "in stock"

Well that sounds like a good deal: P4 2.8 dual core, 2 GB Ram and half a friggin' terabyte of hard drive capacity -- and all this on an unmetered 100 mbps pipe behind a ddos protected network firewall.  That's a web-server on steroids!

The setup fee has been paid, so I'm waiting for the set-up of this beast to be complete. If all goes well, once the setup is complete it should be smooth sailing *crosses fingers*  Ok well I don't actually cross my fingers... it's more like contentment knowing that all things are in my Creator's hands -- it's called faith... but that's another story.
