Awknet Server Is Up and Running! It wasn't a smooth transition as I had hoped. The server was setup yesterday with a fresh installation of cpanel. First, I was unable log into cpanel, and when I tried to do this I was getting "Page cannot be displayed" error. I emailed Justin and was told that with Freebsd (the server's operating system) tables had to be sym-linked or something, which he did, which fixed the problem. Second, when attempting to log into cpanel/whm, I was getting an error message saying that this cpanel version was unlicensed. Server admin informed me that the domain had to be pushed and to try again.... Logged into cpanel and whm successfully... but there were many, many more problems yet to come. Since Awknet installs Freebsd on all their servers by default (unless specifically asked otherwise), I did some research on Unix-based operating systems and found many good reviews. Apparently it's a rock-solid operating system -- open source, stable, yet without the hype and politics of Linux (which I am used to). So I figured, why not? Only today have I figured out that cpanel/whm have several minor bugs and flaws when run on Freebsd. I have been going through them one-by-one -- a very time consuming process -- in order to get things running smoothly. Awknet admin helped fix the dns issues, and the many other minor glitches. I am down to two problems right now:
Server Status:
Income for yesterday and today sucks like shyt Well, not bad for a start. At least the server's running, and all my sites are loading. Yay! Trackback [Previous Page] [Page 43 of 59] [Next Page] |
